Sites like Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and YouTube have penetrated in to the main-stream and became
the most trafficked websites in the world.  Nothing like this as ever existed that allows average people like us to get out message to the world at no cost with just a computer and internet connection.

However there is a dark side to social media. Sure it doesn’t cost you any money to use, but it does cost you something even more valuable, your time.  Most home business owners do not know how to use these
sites in an effective and efficient manner or if they might know how to use it in a effective manner
but not in an efficient manner. That is why these sites have become huge time wasters for many marketers.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not bashing Social Media, I myself Love Social Media.  It’s not the social media that is the problem, its how social media is used inefficiently by most network marketers.  There are a lot of home business owners pitching their businesses and products to an audience that really couldn’t care less about their business.  People on social media don’t care about your business opportunity or how great you compensation plan is.  Social media cares about you, it loves lifestyle.

Now if you are building a business around you, your name and create a following of of people social media is a blessing.  That’s because social media is a technology that is completely based upon that practice of building relationships and lifestyle and is taking over the internet. Your solution is found in the disciplined use of these social media tools to build trust and rapport with your followers.

Remember its not about your company its about YOU!

Over the years Federal regulatory agencies like FTC started to clamp down on product & income   claims made by distributors in this industry who don’t know the law when it comes to advertising & marketing.  In other words your company is liable for all its distributors.  In order to protect themselves for liability of false claims made by their distributors, some companies no longer allow their distributors to use the company name in their advertising and on your websites unless you are using their corporate replicated websites.  This protects the consumer from scams and the company from liability, but it makes marketing a lot harder for network marketers.  So many network marketers are hit with a dilemma of how to market their business opportunity if they can’t mention the company name.  I wondered that too when I first joined my primary business.  “How the hell am I supposed to do this.”  Yes I was ignorant in the ways of marketing.

The solution to this is simple.

You have to realize that that people don’t want your opportunity, they want a SOLUTION to their problems.  Therefore instead of marketing your business opportunity on the front end you should market yourself as a leader and the one that can provide the solution to their problem.  Understand that your business is secondary.  It is when you establish the communication with your leads, via e-mail or phone, is when you can talk about your business opportunity all you want on the back end, without any legal risks. Your capture pages, websites blogs and any social media sites should always promote you even if you are legally allowed to promote your business by name.  This is how top network marketers do it.  How many of you out there know what primary business Mike Dillard is involved with or Ann Seig?  We know them mostly because of their attraction marketing strategies not for their businesses opportunities.
